Between the rocky cliffs of Rocca Pendice, the ruins of the Speronella castle, and the Schivanoia waterfall, you’ll find the Colle del Barbarossa farmhouse: a family-oriented establishment where agricultural tradition intertwines with hospitality and gastronomy.
A Place Rich in History
The farmhouse comes to life at the beginning of the new century, through the renovation of the old family farmhouse in Teolo. We decided to revive it, preserving the untouched features of rural simplicity that reflect its nature and that of our family.
From the nineteenth-century house, which was once home to grandparents, uncles, brothers, and cousins, an agriturismo has emerged. It offers three rooms and a snack bar, welcoming guests with the products of our land amidst the tranquility of the Euganean Hills Regional Park.
The agricultural company and its namesake farmhouse, “Colle del Barbarossa,” are located along the road from Teolo, the heart of the Euganean Hills, to Castelnuovo. This area has been highly sought-after since ancient times for the advantages its strategic position ensured, both for defense and air quality. The oldest traces of human civilization date back to the Paleolithic era, but it is during the Middle Ages that Teolo becomes a center of particular political and administrative importance.
The ruins of the Rocca Pendice castle, still overlooking our farmhouse, date back to this period and were the stage for continuous struggles between the vicar of Emperor Federico Barbarossa and the people of Padua. Drawing from this historical event, poets and playwrights laid the foundation for the legend of young Speronella. Inspired by this captivating story, the name “Colle del Barbarossa” was born.
Authenticity and Relaxation
At the feet of such magnificence, we cultivate a five-hectare area: vineyards, olive trees, cherry trees, figs, and small fruits that can be enjoyed from breakfast for our guests staying with us to meals for those visiting us on weekends.
We have passionately followed our family’s vocation: cultivating the land and sharing it with others. Today, we are a small family-run enterprise that welcomes each guest with open arms, offering our land, territory, and tradition, to which we are deeply connected, to make your stay with us an authentic and relaxing experience.
